But Purple's the best Rattata ever so you'll probably just get beat again, bro, gotta warn y--

[ Beeep. ]

[ For once, the feed doesn't start up with a view of Shooter's too-excited face, or his newest Pokemon, or some beautiful work of fifth-grade art. Instead, it begins with an extreme close-up of little tan paws, followed by little tan whiskers and a little tan belly.

... and then there's a rat butt in the camera. Someone's tied a ragged strip of red cloth around the Pokemon's tail -- not even in a bow, just a messy knot -- and he wags frantically to show it off, peering over his shoulder to his audience. Humans will be treated to chattering 'ratatatata's, while Pokemon will hear this: ]

Hi! Is it-- is my new thing showing up? I think it's showing up. Hi! I'm Purple. I have a thing to ask, and my thing to ask is what do you do when you have a teammate who isn't very nice? We're supposed to train together and be friends but he doesn't want to be friends but we're teammates! Are your teammates nice? How did you make them nice? I want to.

He's kind of made of rocks so he's hard to fight and it's not very fun.

[ The Rattata pauses for a moment, considering, and then starts talking again. Twice as fast. ]

Oh, and if you're where I am, you should come battle us! Shooter is sad because he says I'm on top of a per-cent-age but I need to be more on top of one than anyone else and I'm not yet. Someone mean is more on top of one. So we have to train!

[ The Pokegear is jostled for a moment, and then there's the scuffling and squeaking and tattatata of a Rattata. The pride in Shooter's voice isn't easy to miss. ]

I just got him for my ADVENTURE! We have to go get badges, like in Red. Or Green. I forget which copy I had but it was AWESOME! I'm going to train him and get more Pokemon and they'll be my team and together we'll be the very best. Right, bro?
